Banana Shake
You’ll love this creamy banana shake recipe. It’s made with only four ingredients and is ready in minutes! Have this healthy shake as an after-workout treat, or serve it for dessert. It’s a delightful version of this nice ice cream, served in shake form!
You’ve caught me with my hands in the banana jar. Because I’d rather have bananas than just about any other food on the planet. That’s why banana shake recipes are right up my alley!
First, I simply imagined how to make banana milkshakes. Then, I thought about the creamy banana shake and how delicious it would be. It didn’t take long before I was in the kitchen making it.
Why This Recipe is a Winner
- Using vegan yogurt keeps this recipe healthy, but still oh-so-creamy
- Frozen bananas are so smooth and delicious, you’ll be surprised it’s not actually ice cream
- Adding protein powder helps this shake cross the bridge between a post-workout smoothie and a delicious dessert milkshake
Key Ingredients
You can find the full printable recipe, including ingredient quantities, below. But first, here are some explanations of ingredients and steps to help you make this recipe perfect every time.
Here are the ingredients you’ll need for this recipe:
- Bananas — Be sure to use ripe bananas for the best sweetness shake possible! You can get by with ones that are not as ripe as long as the bananas have some flavor.
- Vanilla protein powder — Adding a little vanilla protein powder adds flavor and protein to this shake. I recommend using a dairy-free product, like Vegan or Orgain (both of which I have been able to find on my vegan shopping trips at Costco).
- Vegan yogurt — I use plain yogurt (unsweetened), like Foragers or Silk, but any non-dairy yogurt should work here even flavored ones.
- Plant-based Milk — Use your favorite plant-based milk, such as soy milk, almond milk, cashew milk, and more.
What Bananas are Best?
I like using bananas with a few or even a lot of brown spots. If the banana is too ripe (verging on dark brown or even black), the flavor may be too overpowering.
How to Make Banana Shakes
It’s super easy to make this Healthy Banana Shake! Here are the banana milkshake ingredients: bananas, vanilla protein powder, vegan ice cream, almond milk, and peanut butter powder.
- Place all ingredients in a blender and pulse until nice and smooth.
- Add some ice if it’s not thick enough. Add more milk if it’s too thin.
- Pour into serving glasses and enjoy!
Marly’s Tips
Any blender will work, but I recommend a high-speed blender to make the smoothest shakes.
